Australomimetus spp and other Mimetids

These spiders, not making webs of their own, are usually found on foliage but are sometimes found in the webs of the spiders they are seeking as prey. A number of spiders on this page have not yet been identified.

This specimen from Mt Glorious rainforest is unusually transparent. It has a bare section over the heart region. Thanks to Danilo Harms for identification (pers. corr.).

Australomimetus aurioculatus (Hickman, 1929) ?


Found on the banks of the Murray River, Blanchetown SA inside a rotting log, previously not recorded from SA. ID is tentative.

Location Morgan, SA. Possibly a different colour morph of Australomimetus aurioculatus (Hickman, 1929) to that found in Blanchetown, SA above. ID is tentative.
