Dondale in 1966 made Cheiracanthium diversum and Cheiracanthium gilvum synonyms of C. mordax, now Eutittha mordax meaning there were thereafter to be considered the one species. The differences between the species were considered to be within natural variation of a widespread and abundant species. DNA studies may help us confirm these synonymies, or show the previous species should be considered distinct.
