A small orb weaver widespread in mostly dry forest and scrub in coastal areas. Very similar to Cyrtophora hirta the Russian Tent Spider perhaps with less obvious tents, and somewhat smaller. In 1872 Koch described only the females of both C. hirta and C. parnasia from specimens collected at Bowen, and the drawings are less detailed than one would like.
