Cheiracanthium gracile Koch, 1873 Long-spur Garden Sac Spider

A medium-sized to large, slender spider making a retreat in live leaves mostly in gardens and nearby bush in most coastal areas of Australia. This spider may be one of many species associated with humans. This species can be identified by the enormously long cymbial spur on the adult male pedipalp, an organ used for sex with the female. The cymbial spur is a long trailing extension from the base of the cymbium, or 'outer glove' of the male's palpal organ. ♀ 9mm ♂ 9mm
