Dysdera crocata C. L. Koch, 1838 Woodlouse Hunter

The Woodlouse Hunter, as its name suggests, preys upon woodlice. In Australia it is thought to prey on slaters. This large, somewhat lumbering spider has a dark-red cephalothorax and legs, a shiny yellow-brown abdomen and disproportionately large chelicerae. It spends the day in a silken retreat and hunt at night. ♀ 11-15 mm, ♂ 9-10mm
